Downtown Silver Spring

Silver Spring's historic downtown has benefitted from an ongoing redevelopment and rejuvenation. Organized around a series of open public spaces, the new Downtown Silver Spring is a "24/7" mixed-use plan consisting of residential, retail, hotel, and civic uses. Among the retail is 350,000 sf of new shops, restaurants and entertainment. Unique attractions include the new headquarters for the American Film Institute, as well as a twenty-screen cinema.
