BOND 45 Opens at National Harbor

A 275 seat Italian steakhouse that not only boasts exceptional cuisine, but also a brilliant atmosphere that fuses classic old world Tuscan details with modern finishes - carefully designed to exude that “lived-in” look. No stranger to being sought after nationally to expand into new markets, Shelly Fireman is a man that knows location is key. Fireman Hospitality Group currently owns and operates seven dining establishments, all in New York City. In his first ever departure from the Big Apple, the successful restaurateur recently opened Bond 45, National Harbor’s only Italian Steakhouse. Brown Craig Turner was selected last year to provide architectural design services for Bond 45. Due to the firm’s successful collaboration on the first project, they have been retained for Redeye Grill, Shelly’s second restaurant to debut at National Harbor. The three story, 20,000 square foot American-seafood themed establishment is set to open later this year.

Brown Craig Turner (BCT) had a booth at the National Harbor preview party where President Bryce Turner, Principal Bob Gehrman and Scott Larrick presented drawings and renderings of the five mixed use buildings the firm designed for the National Harbor project. The party took place in Building E, the first structure completed and one for which BCT provided architectural services.
New zoning boost for Town Center at Aquia

The Town Center at Aquia, a mixed use project designed by Brown Craig Turner (BCT) in Stafford County, Virginia, received a potential boost recently when Stafford County adopted the Traditional Neighborhood Development zoning code on July 17, 2007. The new zoning is based on the smart growth codes used in many jurisdictions and it encourages mixed use development with a residential component by allowing greater density on the site. The Town Center at Aquia is being built on the site of an obsolete 240,125 square foot retail center. The first phase of the project includes a 100,000 square foot office building that will be home to Northrup-Grumman. The existing 24,000 square foot movie theater on the site will be replaced with a state-of-the-art cinema, triple the size of the original. There will be additional retail space with three to four levels of residential apartments located above the retail.
The first phase is now completed and includes the office of Northrup Grumman.
Center Plaza unveiled

Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon and a host of city dignitaries unveiled the new Center Plaza designed by Brown Craig Turner (BCT). An underused concrete urban space was transformed into a lush, green 3-acre park designed to offer a place for people to gather. The public/private partnership included the law offices of Peter Angelos, Southern Management and the Downtown Partnership.
Lansdowne Center opens

This mixed-use town center, designed by Brown Craig Turner (BCT) and developed by Saul Centers, includes 180,000 square feet of office and retail space as well as a grocery store. The project, which opened in May 2007, is one of the newest developments in Loudon County, Virginia.
BCT awarded contract for National Harbor

BCT has announced it has been awarded the National Harbor project. National Harbor is a $2 billion endeavor created by The Peterson Companies. Located on the waterfront of the Potomac River, National Harbor will combine the newest in upscale dining, retail, entertainment, offices, and residencies. With over 300 acres of real estate, National Harbor will be a vibrant urban-waterfront community with seven million square feet in retail, entertainment, dining, residential, and conference facilities. Just south of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Prince George's County, Maryland, it will serve as a gateway for connecting an already populous suburban region to Washington, DC. To accommodate business travelers to the DC area, National Harbor will have a resort and conference center, in addition to a number of nationwide hotel chains with over 3,000 overnight accommodations.
Lockwood Place receives NAOIP Award

Lockwood Place, Retail Building, designed by Brown Craig Turner (BCT) and developed by David S. Brown, has received the 2006 NAOIP Award of Excellence for best New Retail Construction/Urban. The three level retail building, located on Pratt Street in Baltimore, opened with its first retail tenant, Best Buy, in November 2006. The three story, 90,000 square foot complex is the largest new retail building to be built in Baltimore City in 20 years. Additional retail stores, including Filene's Basement, P. F. Chang's and Panera Bread opened shop in the spring and summer of 2007. Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chao will open later this year. Noted President Bryce Turner, "This retail development sets in motion the transformation of Pratt Street into the \'Michigan Avenue\' of Baltimore."
Attracting more visitors to Harbor Place

Best Buy Products opened their first downtown Baltimore store at Lockwood Place at the Inner Harbor in December 2005. The 37,000 SF Pratt Street store is be located on the third floor and anchors the retail and entertainment project that is being developed by David S. Brown Enterprises and A & R Development, and designed by Brown Craig Turner (BCT), Architects and Designers. Lockwood Place is the largest retail building to be built in downtown Baltimore within the last 20 years. Bryce Turner, President of BCT and Chairman of Urban Land Institute ? Baltimore said, "Pratt Street should become the Michigan Avenue of Baltimore, with great retail and a broad promenade." Aspiring to be on par with Chicago's grand street, Best Buy and several high-end restaurants will complement the popular offerings of the Power Plant, Harbor Place and The Gallery developments in the downtown area.

Brown Craig Turner has been awarded the design and architectural commission for retail, office and entertainment buildings at National Harbor, Md., a new mixed-use community being developed in Prince George's County by The Peterson Companies. The first five buildings along the waterfront will be designed by Brown Craig Turner, and will be two-, three- and four-story buildings located along the Potomac River. Gaylord Hotel has also begun design and construction, and will be a significant part of the masterplan that has been approved for 7,300,000 square feet.
